The Agència Energètica de la Ribera (AER) worked closely with seven schools in La Ribera County in order to assist them in the implementation of the Pilot Pupil Programme.
The schools we worked with participated in the following activities:
Information Day
On 30th May 2008, there was an information day in the Algemesí municipality to promote the YEP project. It was addressed to project participants, municipalities, educational centres and companies. In October 2008, the YEP project presentation also took place in the l’Alcúdia municipality.
Survey of Questionnaires for Students and Teachers to know their previous knowledge.
AER circulated translated questionnaires to Students and Teachers to ascertain their existing energy and environmental understanding.
Training sessions to organize how to develop the energy audit.
Three meetings were held with teachers and members of the LSG to establish how to develop the energy audit (May, September and November 2008). The teachers received a list of educational resources (websites), a work programme to develop the energy audit at each school and the questionnaires. A meeting with teachers was arranged to discuss the Energy Audit procedure. As many teachers asked for help, an Energy Audit Guide was elaborated by the AER by using the educational resources previously selected. This guide includes information about how to develop an energy audit and also fill in forms to collect the information about consumption and energy use behaviour.
Carrying out of Energy Audit at Schools.
An Energy Audit was developed by each school. Information about consumption data and consumption behaviour all around the school was collected by the students with their teachers help. This information was then circulated to the whole school. AER organized workshops in several of the participating schools to teach students how to use the luxometer, energy meter, etc to get information about energy use.
