Severn Wye Energy Agency
Severn Wye Energy Agency (SWEA) aims to promote sustainable energy and affordable warmth through partnership, awareness raising, innovation and strategic action. We have developed a portfolio of projects and services in energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainable transport. Building out from its origins in the Forest of Dean, SWEA is active in South West England and Wales. We work in partnership with local authorities, health authorities, government agencies, regional bodies, the private sector, a range of voluntary agencies, and other energy agencies throughout Europe.
SWEA offers the following services:
-
Strategy development, including energy, affordable warmth, climate change
-
Project development and management
-
Training for professional staff and advisors
-
Awareness, advice and information
-
Educational programmes
Registered as an educational charity SWEA has been long established as a source of advice, training and materials for a broad range of educational purposes and audiences. In recent years we have been developing a more focused approach towards giving direct support to teachers, students and their educational establishments and have expanded our team to include a qualified teacher who now leads Project Management in this area.
SWEA takes a keen interest in the practical issues of integrating energy issues into the pressurised environment of the school and its curriculum. The recent and direct classroom experience of our Education Projects Manager helps us to develop realistic plans and activities for the school environment.
We actively engage with both local and national groups that aim to influence educational policy and practice and strive towards an integrated, reasonable and practical approach to this important area of education.
