Energikontor Sydost
Energikontor Sydost is a regional energy office that works with energy efficiency and increasing use of renewable energy. As a development and information centre and a regional recourse we want to influence production, distribution and the use of energy for electricity, heat and transports.
Aims and objectives
The goals of the Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden are to work for increased energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy for a better environment and to reduce the impact on the climate. Every activity aims to achieve a sustainable society and to increase awareness about energy and environmental issues in a long term perspective.
High environmental quality, reliable energy supply, cost efficiency and regional development with increases employment are prioritised issues and driving forces for increased energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy.
History
The Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden ltd was established as a project under the SAVE programme 1999. The following years the project grew from one employee to 23. On the 1 January 2007 the public non-profit organisation Energy Agency for Southeast Sweden Ltd was created. The company is owned by the municipalities in the region as well as the regional councils in the counties of Kalmar, Kronoberg and Blekinge. Offices are established in Växjö and Oskarshamn. The work is financed by the owners, The Swedish Energy Agency, The Swedish Road Administration and trough several local, regional, national and European projects.
Project and core activities
The energy office works within the whole energy sector with the production, distribution and use of energy not only for enterprises and organisations as well as for the private and public sector. Our target groups are regional councils, municipalities, private enterprises and the general public. To work with behaviour issues for a higher awareness about energy and to develop technical proposals and measures, are tools to make a change. Our work often involves connecting different partners so that they together can push the development towards a sustainable society. In our projects we collaborate with actors within the public sector in southeast Sweden and different European partners. The Swedish Energy Agency and The Swedish Road Administration are other important clients.
Our work is divided into five areas:
- Energy efficiency (e.g. energy analysis, energy efficient buildings)
- Renewable energy (e.g. fossil fuel free regions, marketing, networks)
- Business development (Third Party Financing and ESCO’s models)
- Transports (e.g. Mobility management, goals for municipalities, freight transports)
- Information, planning and education (webpage, newsletter, information in schools, energy counselling, environment goals and energy planning)
