Energy and Environment Agency of the Province of Perugia (AEA) was created through the European Union SAVE II Programme in 1997 and thus it is an energy management public policy tool, at the local level. AEA is a limited company (corporation) of 22 partners operating in both the public and private sector, throughout the Province of Perugia. AEA works in Umbria (the green heart of Italy), in the Province of Perugia and these are our main directives: energy efficiency and energy saving; renewable energy sources and information about rational use of energy. Our aims are: to lower building energy consumption; to develop the production of combined heat and power (CHP); to inform consumers, families, shops, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), householders and resources’ managers about rational use of energy (RUE); to show the economic benefits from energy management (craftsmen, SMEs …); to support renewable energy sources development projects and energetic use of waste projects.
AEA has a wide experience in implementing European projects: Energy and environmental education has become one of the key actions of AEA policy. In the field of education, AEA has important experience in educating, advising and training on energy issues in all sectors (schools, enterprises, citizens) at provincial level through both local, national and European co-funded programmes (covering all age ranges, not only with primary but also with secondary and a few high schools). During its 10 years of activity AEA has carried out several educational projects funded by Regional (On-Off, NOI E L’ENERGIA, AIUTO È FINITA L’ENERGIA) and European TEACH, Training pupils for Energy Analysis in school buildings) Bodies.
