It is widely accepted that the organized information and training of students in Rational Use of Energy (RUE), Energy Saving, Renewable Energy Sources (RES), as well as, the Climate Change, is a very important factor for creating well-informed and responsible future energy consumers. Therefore European Union, and the member-states individually, highly promote energy-environmental education and relevant projects in schools of all education levels.
YEP (Young Energy People) project is one of these projects. It aims to increase the sustainability of energy use, renewable energy sources and rational use of energy and reduce the associated carbon emissions in schools and workplaces resulting in more sustainable communities. This will be achieved through education programmes designed to teach secondary school pupils (14 – 18 years) about practical energy management skills and their application to the schools and workplaces.
